But really. Did I really skip my child’s morning nap because of THIS?! Hell hath no fury like a baby who’s missed her nap.

Please tell me I’m not the only person to be thoroughly unimpressed with the so called “sale”. I’d already been warned by friends who went on Wednesday night, so I wasn’t expecting huge discounts or anything just maybe a tad bit more of a selection. Disappointment set in when I walked in at 9:10, the doors opened ten minutes earlier, only to find the racks ravaged by the clothes-hogging mom’s sitting on the floor with 50 plus items. Seriously?!  While the rest of us were scrounging thru their leftovers I did manage to find these cute things below. (Getting the pumpkin monogrammed in pink to add a girly touch) To be honest, I’m not sure that I would buy them in the online sale, but I was there and had already decided I wasn’t leaving empty handed. Mission Accomplished. So long SA-SS, I’m not sure that we’ll meet again. I’ll stick to online shopping from now on.

Update:  As disgruntled as I was, my fingers just wouldn’t stop typing that little four letter word on SA insta last night. You know the one. “SOLD”. Those pink and white polka dot Christmas jammies were screaming my name. &%$! I will not buy anymore smocked clothing. I will not buy anymore smocked clothing. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Blue Sky – Day Designer 2015

I was nearly skipping out of Target yesterday after I stumbled upon the cutest little Planner for the upcoming school year. I hate to even utter the “S” word right now, but alas it is on the horizon, coming fast and furious. Sigh.Tear.All of the Above. But back to my new planner…It’s just the cutest darn thing you’ve ever seen. I am picky to the ‘nth degree when it comes to my right hand man, a.k.a. planner and this one fits the bill. [Hands to the heavens!] I was about to pull the trigger on a fancy Erin Condren planner, but the fact is, this one was less than half the price and just as organized (minus the fun EC stickers). You can get the exact same one, here. I also love this BLUE GEO one. They’re only $16.99 compared to EC’s $59.00 planner. My husband will definitely toss me a high five for that one! He likes to “joke” that I only buy full price. Not true JV, not true.

Anyways, EC planners can get heavy and almost provide you with too many “options” when writing stuff down. I like that the Blue Sky keeps it plain and simple. KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid 🙂

And because summer isn’t over yet, here’s what little Miss Baby has been up to…cruising the lake with her buddy Kai, swimming at ROCC with our cousin Trace and hanging out being cute in the meantime. (Disclaimer: Life vests were present, just not in these pics, safety first! We were also the only boat in the water at the time.) And that about sums it up!

Pictured: Boon Highchair; Pajamas are Carter’s from Target, but I cannot find them for the life of me anymore.

Port Aransas – Texas Beach

July. Summer. Beach. Family.

You can’t have one without the other. My family decided to do something a little different this summer and rented a house in Port A. Thanks Mom and Dad! My parents took care of all the details, so all we had to do was show up. Josh, MP, and I flew into Corpus and from there my Dad picked us up from the airport. Mila did really freaking good on the flight. That puts us at 2 for 2 in that department! We even had to stop in Houston and wait for 45 minutes. No screaming, no blowouts, and no bothering other passengers. Good job baby girl, you earned your wings! IMG_6897We stayed in the Royal Sands neighborhood. Such cute/nice homes, 2 minute walk to the beach, and gorgeous views every evening from our balcony. In the past we’ve always stayed in hotels on vacation, but now that we have a few kids in the mix we decided to give the house a try. SOLD. I loved the house for one reason, you can put the babies down for a nap and then go down stairs and hang out with everyone else. After dinner cocktails on the balcony, yes please!

IMG_9302We went to the beach every morning, my Mom packed her whole house car full of every possible beach necessity you could need or want. Two tents, flags, chairs, coolers, one blow up pool, 2 babies, 7 adults and a partridge in a pear tree later…you get the idea.  We swam in the ocean, played in the sand, floated in the blow-up pool, took naps, drank cold beer, listened to Texas country, and enjoyed each others company until the very last second. Warning: picture overload below.

We had so much fun that we’ve already started to look at houses for next summer. It was such an easy getaway, I cannot wait to go back. We haven’t done a family vacation with my fam in a long time, so this was extra special because we were all together under one roof for more than a night or two (minus Aunt Ellen who’s studying for the bar exam). Mila LOVED the beach and had no problems staying out all day (under the tent of course). She even napped out there. It’s so fun watching her and my niece starting to play together. I can only imagine them in the years to come…trouble!

Vacation aside, I have to say we’re really enjoying this “season” of life. You go thru so many seasons, some are so so hard and some are so full of joy that you have to pinch yourself. I think back to a couple of years ago when I was in a fairly cloudy place due to constant health issues when my sister reminded me that it was simply a “season” and that soon enough it would pass. She was so right and I find myself clinging to that hope when trials come my way. No matter how dark your night may seem, joy comes in the morning, my friends! MP is at such a fun and happy age right now that I want to soak up every second with her.

Thank you Heavenly Father for this season of JOY!

On a side note, if you’re a Mom and you don’t have this book, well please do yourself a big ‘ol favor and snatch it up. My sister got it for me when I had Mila and it’s a funny, light-hearted, inspirational daily devotional read that will have you giggling (and feeling way more normal about your crazy life) all the way thru. The more I read, the more I can relate.

It’s called “Out of the spin cycle”, by Jen Hatmaker, and you can grab it here.

Pink and Gold Stripe Nursery

My BFF and ridiculously talented decorator, Dayme Walther, designed this sparkling jewel of a nursery for my baby girl. It truly is everything I had envisioned it would be…and then some. We made it into the top 6 nurseries for Project Nursery and need your VOTE to bring home the gold! (no pun intended)

Caden Lane calls it “14 karat perfection,” while Project Nursery deems it a “show-stopper.”  Swoon.  Thank you Dayme Walther, Paige Walker Photography, and Project Nursery for featuring our little nest for all to see. copy2 DSC_4322-copy-1024x683 DSC_4335-683x1024 Pink-and-Gold1 Screen-Shot-2015-06-15-at-11.58.50-AMphoto credit: Paige Walker Photography

MOVING ON…Besides the good ol’ Nordy’s sale, I feel the need to tell you about my go-to-girl if you’re in the market for a mean spray tan.  The end of July is on the horizon (boo!), but summer is nowhere near over. As a former Palm Beach spray tanner, I’ve now moved on to greener pastures. No more waiting in line or standing in that disturbingly damp “box” at PBT.

I had Erin spray me before we headed to the beach last week and it fully withstood the sun, sand and saltwater. Yes!!! You can find her information here. Erin and I used to teach together, but she’s now a stay at home Mama with her two little boys. Best of all, if you can’t make it to her, grab a few girlfriends and she’ll come to you! No brainer.

Here’s a pic so you can see the bronze glow I’ve got going on. I can promise you I was NOT tan at all before. Thank you, Erin!!!

That’s all for now. Trip post coming later this week!

B E A C H bound

We’re heading to the beach this week and below I posted some of the things I’ll be sure to pack. Packing for a baby is a tall order so anything I can do in advance helps. Thankfully, my parents are driving and packing the big items for us like the pack-n-play, but if you don’t have that luxury, check out Beach Baby Rentals. Place your rental order online and have it set up and waiting for you by the time you arrive. How nice is that?! Less time setting up means you’re that much closer to sitting on the beach with a cocktail in hand.

Links are posted below in case you’ve waited until the last minute like me!

This past weekend we were fortunate enough (thanks to my awesome parents!!) to have some much needed time to ourselves so we jetted down to Austin. We stayed downtown, at the new JW Marriott and oh my gosh if you are trying to decide where to stay on your next visit, look no further. This place has it all! Perfect for families, couples getaway, and even bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Along the way we also made a stop at Hotel San Jose and had the best dinner at Perla’s. Haven’t been yet? Time to try it! We both agreed it’s the best fish we’ve ever had.

IMG_6698Happy 4th from this little babe! We got to celebrate this year at the lake…finally. It’s been a solid two years since we’ve been able to put the boat in the water due to the low water level. But finally we have a full lake. Yay! We grilled out, swam, surfed, hung with family and went to the parade. No offense to any of the Granbur-ians but think we’ll have to skip out of the parade next year. Womp, womp. Can’t wait to spend our summer weekends out here at the lake. I love that MP is already becoming a lake baby! IMG_6718 copySafe to say she was less than impressed on her first boat ride. We took an evening cruise after dinner and she was sawing toothpicks within the first 5 minutes. Sweet dreams baby girl.

IMG_6663Baby pool time. Some how this little red solo cup keeps her 100% occupied. No complaints here! IMG_0085

And just for grins, this pic was taken last fourth of July in Newport Beach. Thinking I was around 22 weeks preggo. I see you MP! Oh, how times have changed. Cannot wait to go back for our annual Cali trip in August!
